Jonathan Baker, PA-C
Candidate for: NYSSPA District C Director and HOD Delegate 2018
I respectfully request your support for my campaign for district director. With your vote, I bring years of experience as a PA leader to NYSSPA. I believe that all individuals should have access to quality healthcare provided in a culturally competent manner. As a leader I have fought discrimination in healthcare through policy change, collaboration, and education.
I have spent 5 years in the AAPA HOD (House of Delegates) including 2 years as Chief Delegate - all four of the resolutions I represented became policy.
NY state PA legislation and regulations are more important now than ever. With the 4 pillars of Optimal Team Practice, PAs have an opportunity to more fully represent ourselves as the high-quality healthcare providers that our patients have come to know and trust.
Jonathan Baker divides his time between clinical practice, practice administration, research, and board service. He is in clinical practice at Laser Surgery Care in New York City where he has practiced since 2015 and has a supervisory role. He specializes in managing anal pathology with a focus on HPV and other STIs. He conducts clinical research as a co-investigator on NIH-funded clinical trials focused on HPV related disease and biomedical HIV prevention. He enjoys mentoring pre-med, pre-PA, and PA students.
Jonathan is a frequent speaker at national, specialty, and state CME events including the AAPA annual conference. He has been published in various peer-reviewed medical journals including JAAPA. He received the AAPA Paragon Award in Clinical Publishing in 2015.
Jonathan has board leadership experience at the national level, having held the offices of Treasurer, President, and Chair of the Board of the LBGT PA Caucus of the AAPA. He brings 5 years of PA-specific policy experience from the AAPA House of Delegates including 2 years as Chief Delegate during which the four resolutions he represented became policy.
